Nearly a quarter of the year has past and the Freelance Ireland Network is gaining momentum. There’s been some nice pieces contributed to the site by freelancers already and I want to build on this. As the network grows and new content is added more and more people are registering on the groups – which enables contributors to actively promote themselves to a wider audience.

As a way to boost the community and provide promotion for active members, I have an ongoing list of specific articles, interview questions and surveys that I want to start putting into words and use them as resources on the site for fellow freelancers.

I hoping to find freelancers in their chosen field willing to help out, by writing short articles (between 300-600 words) or  willing answer people’s questions on topics and/or detailing the best ways to find answers  (via web links, telephone numbers to call or next actions to take).

If you would like to join the network and directly contribute please register here: Register.

In exchange, contributors will of course have their business details listed on the article page, the article itself will be posted onto this site, referenced on LinkedIn (given the size, the whole article maybe posted on LinkedIn), referenced on Facebook, posted on Twitter (with a short.ie url back to Freelance Ireland’s article page), included in Freelance Ireland’s RSS feeds (obviously) and (later) included in the Freelance Ireland newsletter.

I will detail more as I go along, if you are directly interested please get in touch via email: info {at} freelanceireland(.)ie

Below is the template that I’m hoping to use on the site;

Standard Article Template / Requirements

- An article title
Something descriptive and marketable.

- A headline image
In jpeg format, needs to be larger than 700×500, stock imagery / online images are fine – photos work best, but anything suitable will do (I can source this myself if need be).

- The first 2 sentences of each article will be brief stanza for promoting the contributor directly,  describing their background and/or expertise, and ideally includes a url that will open into a new window. Where possible, in the promotional items above (ie. LinkedIn, Facebook et al) I will include these first 2 sentences as well as the opening paragraphs of the article;
Example:

Shane Devane (shanedevane.net) is a systems developer with 12 years industry experience in web development. He holds a Bachelor of Computer Science and a number of certifications including, MCDBA, CCNA, Linux+, MCSA and CPTS.

- Article Content
Between 300-700 words. The more words the merrier – but I’m aiming for short informative articles (but can obviously range from factual, personal opinion, advice or feature based in their makeup).

- Promotional Area
At the bottom of each contributed article will be for promoting the services, web site or anything else the contributor wishes too. There’s no limit as to the length of content and if you want to include suitable images (though image will need to look well with the design of Freelance Ireland) please do so. Also, if at any point you wish to change this promotional material, just email.

-Article License
I’d recommend to contributors to use the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike license; This license protects the contributor but allows others to expand on the contribution / re-write it providing they make reference back to the original contributor.
