A site I came across on the Freelance Ireland LinkedIn group. They have incorporated an interesting idea into there business model / service. That is of freelancers (et. al) that work for free for a short period of time so that you can prove themselves to prospect clients.

It’s good to see people pushing into a different direction than the norm and it can only mean more options and more potential revenue streams for freelancers sourcing work.

I’m very curious to see how many people join up with them and the potential scope for freelancers to get paid work.

Below is Talent Tanks FAQ on their services.

What is Talent Tank?

It is an online noticeboard. You as an Individual (Talent Provider) offer your skills and time for free, for a short duration, in the hope of creating an ongoing paid relationship with a Talent Seeker (Employer).

What problem does this solve?

On account of the recession, Employers simply don’t have money. They are keeping their costs down to an absolute minimum. When you offer your skills and time, for a short duration, it allows the Employers to consider your proposal because there is no financial outlay.

The employer gets the opportunity to witness your skills and experience. You get the opportunity to ‘showcase’ what you can do for their business. There is no guarantee that an ongoing paid relationship will ensue but there is a possibility. There are many examples of individuals who have secured ongoing paid employment by using the Talent Tank website.

Increasing the potential of getting paid employment

Employers are slowly becoming aware of the Talent Tank. As it is a new concept it is taking longer than normal for them to fully understand how it works.

In order for the Employers to get more involved, it is really important that YOU create and post Offers on the website. The more offers that are posted by you the more choice is available to Employers. Each time you create or update an existing offer, we send an automated update to relevant Employers.–(IMPORTANT: Employers can only view your profile ONCE you have posted an Offer(s))

What are offers?

Think of the Noticeboard in your local supermarket. You place an advert (offer) on the noticeboard with your contact details and a description of the product/ service that you are selling.

It is the same format with Talent Tank. You place an Offer (advert). If you want to see examples of existing offers goto to the homepage www.TalentTank.ie and select the View Talent Provider Offers.

To create and post your Offers, on the site:

1. Go to the homepage www.TalentTank.ie

2. Under the Talent Provider box on the left of the screen select – LOG IN

3. Enter you email address and password (if you have forgot your password select the option for FORGOTTEN PASSWORD and we will send you a new password instantly)

4. Once logged in select the option  to MANAGE MY OFFERS

5. Then create a new offer or edit an existing offer

If you have not been contacted by an Employer, that is more than likely because they are not aware of the Talent Tank. We are doing everything that we can to generate awareness. There is every possibility that this new model of recruitment will ‘snowball’ into a nationwide phenomenal but we really need your help in ‘ramping’ up the number of Talent Provider offers.

Thanks for reading, I sincerely hope the Talent Tank works for you.
